The Churubusco High School Fine Arts Department was founded in 1974 by Mr. Harold Norman, a beloved English teacher, who envisioned an environment for students to thrive and become confident young adults while expressing themselves through the theatre arts. Each year at Churubusco High School, the Fine Arts Department presents two productions – a musical in the fall and a play in the spring. For each production, students memorize lines, learn musical theater scores, assist in constructing set pieces, solicit patronages and sell tickets to family, friends, and community members.
However, being part of a Fine Arts production, goes far beyond what happens on stage. While learning the theater craft is important, it is the life skills that one learns that makes a lasting impact: confidence, poise, collaboration, creative problem solving, empathy, and inclusion...to name a few. |
